The New Zealand men's hockey team has started their bid for a Commonwealth medal in style with a 7-1 win against Trinidad and Tobago in their opening pool game in Delhi.
The Black Sticks opened the scoring through Hayden Shaw but Trinidad and Tobago hit back soon after, catching the New Zealand defence off-guard.
But the equaliser just spurred the Black Sticks into action and they led 3-1 at the break.
The New Zealanders were untroubled by the underdogs in the second half, easing another four goals into the net.
Blair Hilton and Hayden Shaw managed two goals each during the match.
Another win for women's team
The women's hockey team recorded their second win, beating Malaysia 5-0 after leading 2-0 at half time.
Black Sticks women's coach Mark Hager was happy with the result but says there is still much to work on with their key pool match against England coming on Friday.
