The New Zealand men's hockey team has scraped into the semifinals at the Commonwealth Games after snatching a last-minute 1-all draw with Canada in their final pool clash.
Needing a draw to advance, the Black Sticks achieved it just three minutes from time, thanks to a drag flick penalty corner from Hayden Shaw.
However, the team faces the daunting prospect of having to beat top-ranked Australia in the semifinals, after New Zealand's trans-Tasman rivals finished top of pool A.
The Black Sticks women play South Africa in their semifinal.
