New Zealand defending 1500m champion Nick Willis says he is happy with his first outing at the Commonwealth Games.
Willis won a silver medal at the Beijing Olympics in 2008 and did just enough to get through to the final.
He finishing fourth in his heat in a time of 3 minutes 42.47 seconds to gain one of the automatic qualifying spots.
The athlete had limited racing in recent months after recovering from knee surgery and says he did not want a fast heat.
However, Willis says he will be giving it everything in the final on Monday.
In the other heat, New Zealander Adrian Blincoe finished fifth but his time of 3 minutes 41.54 seconds got him through.
