A 3 News opinion poll suggests that with just over two weeks to the election, the result is not a foregone conclusion.
The poll, published on Thursday 23 October, has Labour down one point at 37.4%, however its almost certain coalition partner, the Green Party gained two points to reach 8.8% per cent, its highest rating in in five years.
National has remained steady on 45.1%.
New Zealand First has gone up to 3.5%, while the Maori Party is on 2.3%.
ACT is on 1.7% support, but neither the Progressives nor United Future reached 1%.
The 3 News poll has generally had the two main parties closer together than some of the other polls, and the latest poll continues the trend.
The survey of 1,000 eligible voters was carried out from 16 October to 22 October and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.2%.
