New Zealand First leader Winston Peters tried to debate election issues with National leader John Key in Tauranga, even though Mr Key was not there.
Instead, Mr Peters went head to head with a cardboard cut-out of Mr Key in a mock debate.
Mr Peters seized on the opportunity on Wednesday 5 November, saying he had some questions for the National leader, after Mr Key deliberately avoided him in Tauranga the previous day.
Mr Key changed his plans after learning that Mr Peters was at the same shopping centre.
