Hide to seek post for Douglas

8:33 am on 9 November 2008

ACT Party leader Rodney Hide says he will talk to National about a Cabinet position for Sir Roger Douglas.

Sir Roger is the founder of ACT and is credited with influencing Labour's right wing economic policies of the 1980s.

He is back in Parliament as number three on the ACT Party list.

Mr Hide held his Auckland electorate of Epsom and the party has 3.7% of the party vote.

That gives ACT a total of five MPs.

Mr Hide says that may mean ACT has enough influence to talk about a significant role for Sir Roger in a National-led government.

He says he will be having talks with Mr Key over the next two days.
