Fewer candidates are standing in this year's election than in 2008.
At the last election there were 682 candidates, compared to 544 this time.
The Electoral Commission says there are 13 registered political parties contesting the election.
Most electorate candidates are also on a party list, and the electorate with the most candidates is Wellington Central, where voters will have 12 people to choose from.
The deadline for candidates to be nominated and for parties to submit their party lists was Tuesday.
The election will be held on 26 November.
