Maori Party MP and candidate Te Ururoa Flavell has a healthy lead in the Waiariki electorate, according to a new poll.
In the Te Karere-DigiPoll survey of 400 Maori voters, Mr Flavell has 56% support, while Labour candidate Louis Te Kani and Mana's candidate Annette Sykes recorded 22% support each.
But despite supporting Mr Flavell, most of those polled believe the Government is heading in the wrong direction.
Some 44% also believe their whanau, or family, is worse off under the current Government, while only 21% believe they are better off.
The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.9%.
