National wins New Plymouth

8:30 am on 27 November 2011

The incumbent MP for New Plymouth, National's Jonathan Young, won the set by more than 4000 votes over Labour's Andrew Little.

Last election the seat was the most marginal in the country with Mr Young winning by just more than one-hundred.

Mr Little says the result is disappointing, but he respects the decision.

He said overall there is a high degree of support for National and that counted against his campaign.

Andrew Little will still be in Parliament as a list MP.
