2011: Won by John Hayes (National Party) with a majority of 7,135.
Covering the south east of the North Island, this rural electorate includes the Wairarapa towns of Martinborough, Featherston and Carterton, Masterton, and, further north, Eketahuna, Pahiatua, Woodville, Dannevirke, Waipukurau and Waipawa.
2008 party vote (%): National 48.66, Labour 31.23, Green 5.75, ACT 4.52, Maori 0.72, Progressive 0.68, United Future 0.68.
