Brown slightly ahead in super city mayoralty

A new poll on the Auckland super city mayoralty election has Len Brown of Manukau with a small lead over John Banks of Auckland City.

The Herald DigiPoll is based on 750 responses between 8 - 14 September and has a margin of error of 3.6%.

The survey has Mr Brown with 29.8% support and Mr Banks with 27.8%.

The number of undecided voters is 35.2%.

Delivery of voting papers for the election start on Friday. Voting closes on 9 November.

The new Auckland Council comes into being on 1 November. It is a merger of eight existing councils.
