Hawke's Bay Regional Council and Hastings District Council have discovered that some residents have been sent incorrect voting forms for the local elections.
About 400 voters in the Kahuranaki ward of the Hastings district have papers which list the wrong candidates for the regional council.
Some voters in Havelock North were also posted papers with printing errors.
The company which prints voting papers has accepted full responsibility for the mistakes.
Hastings electoral officer Peter Woodroffe says arrangements are being made for those affected to be sent a special voting paper.
