Fresh start ahead for city, says Key

Updated at 7:24 pm on 1 November 2010

Prime Minister John Key says Monday signals a fresh start for Auckland as its super-council meets for the first time.

He will attend an evening ceremony at which Auckland's incoming mayor, Len Brown, will make an inaugural speech to his council.

The meeting will also be attended by the minister who oversaw the establishment of the super-city, Rodney Hide.

Mr Key says the single structure will speed up the pace of decision-making in Auckland.
