NZ heptathlete now 29th

New Zealander Sarah Cowley is in 29th place after three disciplines in the women's heptathlon on Friday.

Overall, Cowley has 2649 points from the hurdles, high jump and shot put.

Cowley finished fifth in her heat of the 100m hurdles in a time of 13.95 seconds. The result put her in 30th place out of 38 athletes.

She put in a better performance in the high jump, one of her stronger disciplines.

Her shot put was 12.37 metres.

Jessica Ennis of Britain leads by 184 points. The former world champion has a total of 4,158 points.

Austra Skujyte of Lithuania is second with 3,974 and Jessica Zelinka of Canada is third on 3,903.

The event concludes on Saturday with the long jump, javelin and 800m.
