New Zealand flagbearer Nick Willis qualified for the semi-final of the men's 1500 metre race at the London Olympics on Friday.
The 2008 Beijing silver medallist won his heat with a time of 3 minutes 40.92 seconds, the slowest of any of the heats.
Willis moved to the front with 400 metres to go and looked in control throughout.
The semi-final is on Saturday.
