Cowley jumped 6.0m in the long jump to finish in eighth place in her group.

After six disciplines, Cowley is on 5036 points.

The leader, Jessica Ennis of Great Britain, is on 5971 points.

The final discipline of the heptathlon, the 800m, will be raced in the Saturday evening session at the track.
