The United States men's basketball team of superstars has delivered at the London Games, winning the gold medal by beating Spain 107-100 in the final.
In a repeat of the 2008 Beijing games final, Kevin Durant top-scored with 30 points, while power forward Pau Gasol led the Spanish with 24 points.
The US took the lead through the first quarter, and although Spain came back to start the final quarter only one point behind, the Americans were too strong in the end, winning the final quarter 24-18.
In volleyball, reuters reports, Russia came back from the brink of a straight-sets defeat to win its first gold medal in the men's event for 32 years.
The Russians powered their way back into the game after Brazil had blown two gold-medal points in the third set, and took out the victory in five sets.
