2011 disabled Maori sportsperson of the year, cyclist Jayne Parsons, has had her dream of winning three gold medals at the London 2012 Paralympics dashed - after pulling out due to injury.

Parsons, who is of Taranaki descent, was looking to add to her 2008 Beijing Paralympics bronze medal at the London games, but a back injury has rendered her unable to compete.

Other Maori Paralympians in London are javelin thrower and shot-putter Peter Martin and swimmer Cameron Leslie.
