Metro magazine founder critical in hospital

The founder of Metro magazine, Warwick Roger, remains in North Shore hospital after nearly drowning at Cheltenham Beach in Devonport on Thursday afternoon.

Mr Roger, 66, who has Parkinson's disease, was pulled from the water and members of the public performed CPR.

He was transported to hospital where he remains in a stable, but critical condition.

Mr Roger was once described as the best New Zealand journalist of his generation.
