Union plans more action against Affco

The Meat Workers Union is planning more action against AFFCO, which has locked out 1000 union members.

Union delegates are meeting in Taupo on Wednesday to discuss the launch of a campaign which would include further strikes, a call for community support, and nationwide fundraising.

The union held a second strike on Tuesday in response to last week's lockout.

National secretary Dave Eastlake says delegates and union officials will on Wednesday discuss how to get the company back to the negotiating table.

The union and AFFCO are at loggerheads about flexible hiring practices.

Six of AFFCO's eight plants are affected by the lockout, but all plants are still operating.
