Name suppression has lapsed for the man charged over the crash that killed Timaru financier Allan Hubbard last year.
The 83-year-old died when the car he and his wife were travelling in and a four-wheel-drive vehicle collided north of Oamaru on 2 September.
Jean Hubbard, who was driving, suffered broken ribs.
Andrew Earle is charged with careless driving causing death and careless driving causing injury.
He appeared in Dunedin District Court on Friday and has been remanded for another hearing next month.
