Police investigating the death of a homeless man whose body was found floating in Auckland's Viaduct Harbour say a post-mortem has revealed he was uninjured when he went into the water.

Selwyn John Wallace, 52, was found by a member of the public on Sunday morning near Wynyard Wharf.

The officer in charge of the investigation, Detective Senior Sergeant Mark McHattie, says police have advised Mr Wallace's next of kin.

Police divers spent Monday searching the seabed around the wharf but have not retrieved anything of significance.
