One person died in a house fire in Christchurch early on Sunday morning.
A fire communications spokesperson says emergency services were called to the blaze in Ruskin St, Addington, just before 5am.
Fire safety officers and police are at the scene.
The cause of the fire and the identity of the victim are not yet known.
In Levin, 10 fire appliances have been battling a large fire at the Tender Centre on State Highway 1, since 6am on Sunday.
