Public transport use in Auckland peaks

The growing use of public transport in Auckland has reached a new milestone with 70 million trips taken in a year.

Auckland Transport says patronage is up by nearly 10% on a year earlier, and at levels not seen since the 1950s.

With more services running, rail patronage last jumped by more than 18%.

The dedicated North Shore busway is carrying 15% more passengers than a year earlier, and bus patronage elsewhere is up by more than 7%.
