Police have arrested a man after a car was driven up a flight of stairs and into the doors of Whanganui District Court.
They say the man, who is in his 40s, was driving on Bell Road beside the court just after 7pm on Friday when he swerved on to the pavement, up the stairs and into the courtroom doors.
Police say he reversed the car and smashed into the doors again, causing significant damage, before driving away.
They say the man told them he was frustrated with the justice system.
He will appear in the same court on Tuesday charged with intentional damage.
