10:38 pm on 26 March 2012

A 44 year old man has been remanded on bail after appearing in Hamilton District Court on Monday following a stabbing incident in Huntly early on Sunday.

Steven Bowden is charged with three counts of causing grievous bodily harm to three men.

They suffered serious injuries after being stabbed with either a screwdriver or knife at 1am on Sunday.

All required surgery in Waikato Hospital but their injuries are not life-threatening.

Police allege Mr Bowden stabbed the men after getting into a fight with them.

His lawyer told the court Mr Bowden was set upon by the men but denies stabbing them.

He will reappear in court on 24 April.
