A man was left bound and gagged by two intruders at his home in Invercargill.
Police say the intruders confronted the 62-year-old at his house on Conon Street about lunchtime on Tuesday and left him bound until he was found by a family member about 4pm.
He was taken by ambulance to Southland Hospital and treated for minor injuries.
The scene was cordoned off overnight and a police investigation will continue on Wednesday.
Police would like to hear from members of the public who saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area around the time of the incident.
