A third person has been arrested in relation to the killing of a boy in South Auckland.
John Hapeta, 14, was beaten to death outside his home in Weymouth during a birthday party on 12 August. A hammer was used and police were also looking for a handgun.
Police say a 15-year-old is due to appear in Manukau Youth Court on Monday, charged with being party to the assault with intent to rob and possession of a firearm.
Police said on Sunday that two men, aged 21 and 23, had been arrested and charged with murder, assault with intent to rob and possession of a pistol. They are to appear in Manukau District Court.
Detective Inspector John Tims told Morning Report that a firearm has also been found.
He said the killing was not random.
