Wellington airport reopens after fog

7:45 am on 26 August 2008

Flights in and out of Wellington airport have resumed after fog disrupted the plans of thousands of travellers on Monday afternoon.

A spokesperson for the airport says services are running as normal but passengers should still check with their airline before heading for the airport.

MetService says the fog has lifted in the capital on Tuesday morning. However, low cloud is expected to remain for the rest of the day and may affect visibility from early evening.

Air New Zealand says it cancelled 20 domestic services after all flights were suspended at 1.45pm.

Services resumed about 5.30pm, but there is a passenger backlog to clear on Tuesday.
