A murder charge has been laid against a man accused of driving offences which allegedly led to the death of a Porirua police officer.
Sergeant Derek Wootton died in July while laying road spikes in a effort to stop a car.
The man accused of his murder - 32-year-old Andrew Popo - also faced further fresh charges when he appeared in Porirua District Court on Tuesday, including unlawfully taking a vehicle and driving while disqualified.
A charge of aggravated robbery was withdrawn.
Mr Popo will reappear in court next month.
