Man shot and killed in Papatoetoe

A homicide inquiry is being held after a man was shot three times at his home in Papatoetoe.

Detective Inspector John Timms says he does not believe the shooting was a random attack.

The St John Ambulance communication centre says staff were called at around 12.20am to a house in Papatoetoe where they found a man in his mid to late 20s with gunshot wounds in the head and the chest.

He was taken to Middlemore Hospital, but died several hours afterwards.

Police are looking for a man in his 30's who was driving a black sports car.

In other incidents overnight in South Auckland: a teenager was shot in the leg in Mangere at 9.30pm on Saturday.

And another man, 19, from Papakura is critically ill with head injuries after being found on a netball court. Police have been told of a fight in the area around 2am on Sunday.
