Dunedin wards back in business after virus outbreak

4:14 pm on 1 September 2008

Otago District Health Board says it will be business as usual on Monday at Dunedin and Wakari hospitals, two weeks after norovirus broke out.

More than 2000 outpatient appointments were canceled as a result. About 160 staff and patients were affected.

Wards were re-opened last weekend, but one was closed again on Thursday.

As of Sunday night, only one person had been admitted with norovirus since Friday and only four patients in the hospital had developed it. The DHB says 28 patients are in isolation.

The DHB says it will now be business as usual in both hospitals with elective surgery and outpatient visits going ahead.
