The Meat Workers Union says church services are being held at picket lines outside AFFCO freezing works.
The union says the company issued lock-out notices to an extra 500 employees on Friday morning.
It says about 1500 members at six of the company's eight North Island plants will be deprived of statutory holiday pay for Good Friday and Easter Monday.
AFFCO has agreed to a mediation meeting next Thursday.
