Blues coach in tears at racial taunts

Blues coach Pat Lam says he and his family have been subjected to racial abuse over the side's poor form in the Super Rugby competition.

The Blues have won just one of their six games so far and are languishing at the bottom of the table.

Lam broke down in tears on Wednesday afternoon as he tried to explain the reasons behind the Auckland-based team's poor form, saying his family has been subjected to racist taunts on social media sites and talkback radio.

Lam says comments by faceless people that the Blues are losing because of his Samoan heritage is offensive.

The Blues play South African side the Sharks at Auckland's Eden Park on Friday.
