A youth accused of killing a Scottish tourist in Taupo is to stand trial.

Karen Aim, 26, died from severe head injuries in January this year. She was in New Zealand on a working holiday.

The 15-year-old boy who was 14 at the time has pleaded not guilty to a charge of murder during a preliminary hearing in the Youth Court at Taupo this week.

He will appear in the Rotorua High Court in October.
