A daily deal website based in Christchurch has been given a warning following an investigation by the Commerce Commission into its use of bait advertising.
The commission says Qupon Ltd, which supplies discounted vouchers for goods and services, failed to honour four deals in February and March this year.
Qupon advertised discounted vouchers for The Warehouse and Z Energy without making financial arrangements with either company.
In one case, Qupon was forced to withdraw a deal for discounted petrol, following a 'cease and desist' letter from Z Energy.
The commission says it has received several complaints about the Qupon website and all affected customers have since been given refunds.
