Golden Bay High School is reviewing its internet and cellphone safety policies after three students were stood down for sharing images of a Year 9 classmate.
The girl went to school management after realising a picture of her had been taken off a social networking site and sent to other pupils.
The students were stood down for a few days following the incident, which happened outside school hours about a month ago.
The chair of the school's board of trustees, Bruce Packard, says students and parents will be better educated about technology and social media as a result of the incident.
