Police are likely to scale down the official search for a Fiji man who went missing while swimming at a Wairarapa beach.
Eroni Ravaga Gaunavou, 22, disappeared on Monday afternoon during a swim with two friends off Akitio Beach.
Sergeant Andy Brooke says a helicopter was being used again on Friday along rugged parts of the coast, which are difficult to search on foot.
Police involvement is likely to be taper off over the weekend, but residents and Mr Gauanovou's family and friends are expected to keep searching.
