A man who escaped police custody in Fielding remains on the run.
Marc Rhys Tuffey, 29, was arrested on Saturday morning and taken to the Fielding Police station.
Police say that while in the station he took an officer by surprise and sprinted out the door.
They believe Mr Tuffey then stole a silver Honda Integra, which he has probably driven to Palmerston North, where he has family.
Sergeant Grant Lawton says Mr Tuffey faces several charges including possession of cannabis, theft of a motor vehicle, burglary, and escaping police custody.
He is described as 175cm tall, of thin build, with short blonde hair.
