Two people have been flown to Wellington Hospital after their vehicle was hit by a train near Blenheim.
Police say the two had to be cut out of the car after the crash happened at 5pm on Sunday in Grovetown.
Their condition is not yet known.
The train did not leave the rails and the driver was shaken but unharmed.
