Stadium Southland not fit for October netball tests

Invercargill netball fans will have to wait until next year before Stadium Southland can host an international test match.

Two games originally scheduled for October - one between Australia and England, and the other between the Silver Ferns and South Africa - have been moved from the stadium to Tauranga's TECT Arena.

The Invercargill stadium has been out of commission since 2010 when heavy snow caused the roof to collapse.

Stadium Southland's general manager, Nigel Skelt, says most of the stadium will be ready by September but essential facilities such as toilets might not be.

He says the option of holding the games at the Velodrome was discussed, but the facility was considered too small.
