The Transport Agency is installing new signs along a motorway off-ramp not far from where two people driving south were killed by a motorist driving north the wrong way.
The head-on crash on State Highway 1 north of Wellington last month killed the drivers of both cars and seriously injured a passenger.
The Transport Agency says it isn't clear why the driver drove the wrong way up the Churton Park off-ramp and onto the motorway but it will putting up more warning signs as a precaution.
It says it is also considering whether extra signs should be erected on other parts of the country's motorways.
