A 19-year-old has been jailed for 15 years without parole for the killing of a gay Palmerston North man.
Andre Gilling was jailed for killing Stanley Waipouri, 39, in December 2006.
Gilling's co-accused, Ashley Arnopp, was given the same sentence last year.
Editor of GayNZ.com website Jay Bennie says Mr Waipouri was killed because he was gay and it is a relief that justice has prevailed.
