Anglican church speaks out on drug abuse

6:56 am on 15 September 2008

The Anglican Church has added its voice to calls to put more resources into fighting methamphetamine abuse.

The illegal drug, also known as P, was discussed at the annual synod of the church's Auckland Diocese.

The Bishop of Auckland, John Paterson, says he is worried people are becoming blase about a drug which is wrecking lives.

He says they could take the chance in the election build up to tell aspiring politicians that they want them to do all they can to support the police in the fight against P.
