A man charged after an incident at a skate park in Auckland has had another assault charge laid against him.

Craig Platt, 48, was seen in a video on the internet allegedly shoving a teenager and a man during a competition at the park in March and was charged with assault at the time.

At the Auckland District Court on Monday, it was revealed another assault charge has been laid.

Mr Platt's lawyer John Armstrong said he only became aware of the charge on Sunday night and the new accusation is related to the incident at the skate park.

Mr Platt has been remanded on bail to reappear in May. He has applied for diversion for the first charge.

The Auckland Council is also investigating the competition after spray paint was used to vandalise the park during the event.
