Auckland house prices and sales fell in April after a particularly strong pick up in March.
The city's largest real estate agent, Barfoot and Thompson, says the average sale price last month was just over $568,000 - about $3000 lower than the average price in March.
The number of sales fell 40% between March and April to 750 while new listings dropped 18 % to 1266.
Barfoot and Thompson managing director Peter Thompson says the timing of school holidays, Easter and Anzac Day falling in April may have affected sales, but he also believes some sellers are setting their asking prices too high.
