Police are searching for a man in connection with a shooting incident at Whangaparaoa north of Auckland late on Wednesday night.
They say a man armed with a sawn-off shotgun entered a property by an unlocked door and, after being confronted by a man living at the property, shot him in the hand and leg.
Police say the person who entered the property was not known to the residents of the house.
They say the injured man did not require hospitalisation but it was still a dangerous incident that could have had very serious consequences.
