Mayor wants no further delay in single ticket system

Auckland mayor Len Brown is seeking assurances there will be no further delays to a project introducing a single ticket system for the city's public transport.

In the latest in a series of delays, an initial trial of the $98 million integrated ticketing system has been put back to August or September this year.

The system is ready for trains and ferries, but Auckland's biggest operator NZ Bus uses rival technology called Snapper, which still does not comply.

Mr Brown wants assurances from the council's transport agency and two partners in the project, Thales and Snapper, that the end-of-year rollout of the system will take place as planned.
