Two men have been jointly charged with the murder of police sergeant Don Wilkinson in Mangere on 11 September.
Name suppression has lapsed for John Ward Skinner, 37, and Iain Lindsey Clegg, 34. In addition, they are jointly charged with attempted murder.
The former is also freshly charged with assault with a weapon.
Sergeant Wilkinson and another officer were laying a tracking device outside a suspected methamphetamine laboratory on 11 September when they were fired on.
Both of the accused appeared in Manukau District Court on Tuesday and were further remanded in custody until late next month.
