Whangarei police are warning people to look out for a man who has been approaching children in what they say is a suspicious manner.
In the first incident on May 7, a man tried to drag a 12 -year-old girl into a bush, as she walked to school in the Third and Central Avenues area.
Five days later, a man followed a nine-year-old boy, and ten-year-old girl along Sherwood Avenue in Onerahi, and ran after them when they fled.
Police say the man - a pakeha aged in his 30's with short black hair - ran off when the children took refuge in a house.
But they say later that morning, a man driving a black Mazda sedan asked a 14-year-old girl to get into his car, in the suburb of Tikipunga.
